Roster Moves – August 8
Second-baseman Danny Lockhart has been sent to Boise from AAA Iowa; former Hawks pitcher Jose Rosario has been sent to Boise from Class-A Kane County; former Hawks pitcher Jose Arias joins Boise from Class-A Kane County; pitcher Rob Zastryzny has been promoted to Class-A Kane County; and catcher Cael Brockmeyer has been promoted to AAA Iowa.
Lockhart, selected to the NWL All-Star Team, played in two games for the I-Cubs, going 4-for-9 with a run scored in a series with Tacoma. He was among the NWL leaders in batting average and hits prior to his promotion to AAA.
Rosario, who posted a 6-3 record for the Hawks in 2011, returns after recording a 0-7 record and a 7.38 ERA in 64 innings with the Cougars in 2013. The hard-throwing right-hander struggled with his command in Kane County, walking 42 men while striking out just 33.
Arias, returning from injury after making just two appearances early this season in Kane County, was 0-1 with a 2.53 ERA in six outings with the Mesa Cubs. A year ago, the right-hander went 4-2 with a 3.25 ERA for the Hawks.
Brockmeyer was promoted on Tuesday to Iowa after a rash of injuries at the catcher position and went 1-for-3 in his AAA debut – and has remained with the team back to Des Moines to open a series with Fresno.
The Hawks currently have a full roster of 30 players, with Shawon Dunston Jr. on the disabled list and Eddie Orozco in Boise on a rehab assignment.
