Gretzky to Kane County, Brockmeyer to Boise
The Boise Hawks, in conjunction with the Chicago Cubs, have announced a trio of roster moves prior to the start of a three-game series with the Eugene Emeralds.
Outfielder Trevor Gretzky has been promoted to Class-A Kane County and third-baseman Kris Bryant has been promoted to Advanced Class-A Daytona, while catcher Cael Brockmeyer has been returned to Boise after a week with the AAA Iowa Cubs.
Gretzky is coming off a 3-for-4 game on Sunday night against Vancouver – upping his batting average to .256. The third-year professional had four doubles and six RBI – and had hit safely in all 11 games he played at Memorial Stadium.
Bryant heads to Daytona after a stellar three weeks in Boise, hitting .354 with four home runs and 16 RBI in 18 games with the Hawks. The second-overall pick in the 2013 draft heads to the D-Cubs riding a 15-game hit streak.
Brockmeyer returns to Boise after spending the last week with the I-Cubs, going 1-for-6 in two games in the Pacific Coast League. He was hitting .306 with 12 RBI prior to the All-Star Break.
